Synopsis:

The story starts on the auspicious day of “mahalaya”. Anandamohan Bhattacharya is a priest. Anandamohan follows all rules scrupulously. He names his daughters after the goddess Durga - Revati, Haimanti and Jayanti. Anandamohan’s wife Anima is a very down-to-earth person. Their elder daughter Revati has lost her husband in an accident. Now she stays with them and she has become a little temperamental. Jayanti is Anandamohan’s youngest daughter. She is a college going student. Ratan Samanto is a criminal who has molested Haimanti six years ago in front of her boyfriend Nikhilesh. Anandamohan does not disclose this matter to anybody.After this awful incident, Haimanti goes to Mumbai to her uncle, Sushanto’s house. Sushanto also tries to abuse Haimanti physically, who escapes from his house. Mrs. Deshpande and Mr. Shukla give shelter and support to Haimanti. After six years, Haimanti comes back home. She has a mission - a mission for justice. Haimanti comes back on the eve of Durga Puja. Her family members are surprised. Anandamohan is worried about her homecoming. Haimanti meets her old friend Nikhilesh who is the only eye witness of that accident. Haimanti wants to punish Ratan for his sins. Nikhilesh has lost his normal lifestyle in that accident. He is a drug addict now, yet he can paint and write poems. Haimanti encourages him to start a new life. When Ratan comes to know that Haimanti has come back, he comes to threaten them, but Haimanti teaches him a good lesson. Ratan becomes more ferocious on the eve of Dashami. He tries to harass them. Haimanti tries to contact the police but she is not able to do so. When Ratan attempts to rape Jayanti, Haimanti kills him with the trident of goddess Durga. She destroys the evil spirit.
