Synopsis:

Aparna Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee Sambit banerjee, a young surgeon drives his car to a village hospital with his college friend Ajay, the card meets with an accident with a rickshaw carrying two ladies. One of them falls in the ground immediately and the other asking for help. The crowd gather and surround the car. Sambit gets down and apologise, but the young lady stops the agitated mob and request them. Sambit is stunned with the girls gratefulness and takes her wounded friend to the village suburbs hospital, he admits the patient and later comes to know that she is Lalita and the lady rescued them,is Sucheta,daughter of this villages headmaster, both of them are teacher of a girls school in Calcutta. After introductions, he gives her a gift to home later returning to home, Sambit tells about the girl to his mother a her beauty and intelligence have already made him one of his admirer. Now this doctor often visits the suburb, Meets her and within a few days the friendship turns into love. Nandita,with her broken arm is yet to be released she and her would be husband, Siddharta Mitra ,soon became very close to Dr Banerjee. Sambit though a boy of new generation still keeps few values in his heart he has an ideologist, Everyday sits in his late father’s chamber ,visits the poor patients and if needed he gives them free drugs and medecines he is a god to the needy patients through manny take oppurtunityes of his kindness .sambits mother widow feels lonely at home so she resquests for marriage comes several times but sumbrita refuses but nobody is careless .workoholic doctor is changed his me his vision about mariage he dates suchita in park and streets and finds the real right real women.he had searched for years finally he confesses and suchits agrees to marry .in honeymoon the couple wisit digah and their romance never stops . Sucheta's heeling touch and love soon turns sanbits careless lifestyle in a proper systematic way . But within a year problems comes in their life . Sanbits old friend ajay invites him in their medical collegein a gettogether function as a deligate of a thorsic surgery. Sanbit is researching over the matter. He arrive at the re-union, meets with his old friend , chats with them and most importantlymeet with his old professor. The professor pleased with the presentations . Sends him to the plaza nursing home for an operation of the patient who is fighting with death. The new ambience ,the receptions and the snobbish attitude makes him alittle upset, but he does the miracle - operated successfully and her daughter ricky rudra offers him a job immediately as well as incredible amount of his operational fees .. Sanbit world has beem opened to him-socoiety of the elite classes, fames and money , hypro criss and lies - power and comprises- a snob's world he hs changed a lot begins to ignore his wife and poor patients , becomes a money maker have a crush upon his all time bold and his bold and beautiful , ricky rudra. An extra martial affairs begin, he has ost himself, becomes more and more engaged in this new culture ricky teaches him how to make compromese. Meanwhile , suchita has given birth to their only son babul. Misunderstanding takes place every night between the couple. His night arrivals , the new status and other professional hazards makes sucheta's life hell . Sucheta lives her home and go to her parents home . And at the day of returning she finds her husbands in bangalore, for a faciliationfrom asian medical council for his contribution on theoric surgery. But surprisingly - here is ricky accompaniying him again, sucheta can't resist herself , she visits the plaza and ricky misbehaves again, suchita being humiliated and again, finally decides that enough is enough. She returns , takes babul in a place unknown her husband and stays here . She joins a private concerns as a sales executive and begins to earn economic independence changes her a lot . She is now a confident single mother. Sanbit , angry and egoistic over the matter , approaches legal way for the claim of his son but, losses in the high court . But that is just the beginning of his losses . Soon he has to sign a death certificate for the patient who has died after five hours before admission. He refuses but plaza forces him to compromises . This time he stands alone , protest and resigns as the surgeon - in - charge of the plaza . Now everything of this new world comes dear to him. He realizes about his mistakes , begins to search his son and wife , whom he neglected for his ambitious career . But he does'nt find them anymore , he being isolated and frustrated , sends his mother to kashi and again starts to visit the poor patient of village, he a changed persona regrets a lot is finally takes his job else where. Babul, in an afternoon , flying kites with his friends house . Suddenly fell from a narrow rooftop and wounded severly . He , with his broken arms and legs is taken to velloe cms hospital for a better treatment . An hour long operationbeen done. And at last, comes to an end , sucheta follows the visiting surgeon to ask him about the condition of his son. The surgeon turns his head and finds his wife after a long years back . Sucheta seeing her husband face , remains spell bound and soon falls on the floor losing her consiousess. Sucheta introduces babul to his father -who love cured him already . At night , she decides to leave the city , giving her only son to sanbits writes a letter and rushes to the station with babul . Train arrives , the father son reach at the time and stops her. Finally they get together and live happily even after.
