Synopsis:
Uttam kumar stars in 'raja saja', a simple tale of a happy go lucky village master whoes world turns upside down when an estate menager arrives at his village, one day, informing him that he is the inheritor of a very large fortune left behind by his uncle and he must leave for Kolkata at once. Rajat (ultam kumar ) is a happy go lucky school master who is a little whimsical by nature and all his students. The children of the village are very attached to him as he too is very fond of then. He is very fond of animals too and cannot se any injustice being done to them. One day, an estate manager, Jagjeevan sarkar (bekash roy) arrive in the village with his assistant Monohar (tarun kumar) and informs Rajat that he is the heir to an enormous fortune consisting of crores of rupees and he must go to Kolkata at once. Rajat accompanies Jagjeeven sarkar and goes to Kolkata. On reaching there, he is shocked at seeng the amount of weath and manpower he has inhented and it takes him time to come to learn with everything as this is a totally new life for him. Being a quick learner, he learns the way of city life and realzes that Jagjeevan sarkar has been siphaning ?off monay from the chief guest, but later on he falls in love with her. She is used as a pawn by Jagjeevan and Malini's mother (chandraboh devi) and they want her to get married to Rajat so they had jointly blackmailed a lot of people. Malini comes to know about the plan and wants a letter to Rajat saying she is going to Allahabad as she had got the job of a taken / there. In reality she did'nt want to hunt for Rajat as she really loved him and so she wanted to go away from him. Rajat disided ? joggevan as he was being dishonest and made Monohor the new estate manage. Jogjeevan files a case against Rajat in the court and hres to prove him imane ?. Rajat defends himself and wins the case. Rajat and Mahni get together and that is the end of the flim.
